Mission Trip: Hong Kong
(copied from my Mission Trip WhatsApp Support group)
[4/11, 11:43 pm]
The last two days have been very tiring but very good!
Sunday:
- We had two services with a church's tweens. English & Cantonese. We operated in the spiritual gifts. Words of knowledge were confirmed on the spot and one girl had it confirmed by two of the team members at different times. We saw the healing of a boy's arm which was unable to twist completely, but that moment we saw it twist normally.
Monday:
- Vietnamese spring roll activity with domestic helpers. 4 Muslims and 1 Buddhist, all of them accepted Christ and we all prayed for each of them and led them to receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues.
- YWAM Poverty Simulator. SO GOOD. 🤯 We all had roles to play and we experienced what it was like to work hard and all day but still couldn't earn enough to pay rent and buy food. We felt belittled and disrespected and unheard. The simulation did what it was supposed to do and opened our eyes to our treatment of the poor and low class. We also packed care pouches and gave them out to the elderly cardboard collectors.
- Street ministry. We went into the bars and gave out skincare packs to the girls, chatted with them and invited them to the free classes that the organization hosts. They were very pleasantly surprised and shocked to learn the classes were free, but were very interested in going. We also prayed for them and their families with their consent.
Today, we did crafts with some of the bar girls that this org had been journeying with and they're all from Africa!
One of the ladies had attended a class we held with another group, and had requested us to pray for her because she was suffering from months and months of bleeding, nonstop.
And it was awesome because the other team laid hands on her and prayed and she reported back to the organisation that her bleeding had completely stopped THAT day, and it has been 4 days!
I met with this lady today as I did crafts with her and she told me about her healing. It reminded me of the woman with the issue of blood in the Bible
Many seeds were planted during this mission trip, of which few of them grew and were able to be seen right away.
But we believe that the seeds planted will grow, because God's Word will not return void!
Isaiah 55:11
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
FOOD CONCLUSION:
- I went to Hong Kong thinking their Dim Sum is going to be awesome but personally I was disappointed. Malaysia's Dim Sum is still better 😂 Their Siew Mai base is made out of fish paste so they all taste like rubbery fish balls. One of the Dim Sum I tried was really good. Pictures included.
- Beijing/Peking Duck is basically slices of duck, cucumber sticks, some veg sticks and you assemble them all into a steamed rice wrapper and eat them with some dipping sauce. Think: Vietnamese spring rolls but with duck.
- We absolutely loved the roasted goose meals that we had. And surprisingly, their roast/steamed chicken was also so delicious! Very fatty, very aromatic, very satisfying. 10/10, 100% recommend. Any restaurant with roast goose should be good to experience.
- Their milk tea is not sweet and very strong, with a slight bitter taste.
- Their Char Siew is served in BIG and FAT portions. VERY tasty. So much nicer than Malaysia's cut.
- And I really loved their Osmanthus Jelly (or I think that's what they call it). This dessert is something I definitely want to recreate at home.
Now for the mission trip statistics :D
We had healings, miracles and so much more happen during this mission trip. I'm in awe and yet I am grateful that we were able to understand the spiritual gifts as stated in 1 Corinthians 12.
Because we understood the authority we have in Christ, and we worked according to how God led us, people who would have never considered salvation and Jesus, BECAUSE of the gift of healing, they realize that God is real, and have now been saved!
For these cardboard collectors, they have no hope in their lives. Each day is spent desperate to survive.
But we are able to present them a hope that only Christ can give.
This lady accepted Christ after her back was healed (she was very bent but now she can stand up straight!) ON THE SPOT.
Healing is part of the gospel, because it reaches people who need their physical needs met before they can think about anything else.
We had a total of 4 Cantonese tweens present during the Cantonese service. Here we shared with them about the Holy Spirit, His power and all the things the HS can do through our obedience and faith.
The guy in blue has raised 4 people from the dead, and has prayed and seen thousands of healings. Here he is sharing about all the testimonies about God, the healings that happened, and how important it is to have the Holy Spirit, to know God through His word, and to be faithful to what God wants you to do.
After that we ministered to the tweens, and worked in the gift of wisdom and knowledge. We knew nothing about the tweens and their background, but the Holy Spirit impressed on us specific words or images that really impacted the tweens we ministered to.
For example, that day, A (the guy in blue) had the impression that the tall big boy in red really loves to draw. A asked the boy in red if he likes to draw, and the boy was like, "No, just a little bit".
But afterwards the boy ran to their youth leader Stacey and was in absolute shock, "HOW DID HE KNOW I LOVE TO DRAW?"
Because the big boy was afraid to be ridiculed if his friends knew he loved to draw, he didn't admit the fact. But he was amazed that a stranger KNEW.
Another example, I was praying for this lovely little girl, and I told her, "Y'know what? I'm going to pray but I'm also going to ask God to tell me what He wants to tell you."
And as I prayed for her in general, the Holy Spirit impressed on me the words 'dancing'. And I shared what were the words on my heart to her.
That she loves dancing and that she is a dancer.
I asked her if that was correct or incorrect and she got up, took her phone, and then excitedly began to show me all her dance competitions.
"I learned dancing since I was 3!" she said.
And all these are as simple as asking God to tell you how to minister to others, and when you start thinking of a word or an image, you just share it. You learn to practice hearing God and being obedient in doing. It's like when you have something good you want to tell other people, you just share that instead of keeping it in because you're afraid it might not resonate with them.
The gift of wisdom and knowledge is powerful, because it shows the people that you minister to that God KNOWS them. That God SEES them. And that He thinks they are precious and worthy of His attention.
When a complete stranger tells you something about your life/future and it happened, you're going to realize that they cannot possibly know about your past or future except if God told them. And that means God knows you and wants to speak to you.
And that alone will change people's lives. That alone will change what they think about God. That will change the relationship they have with God.
All these ministering, the healings that happened, the salvations that happened, the people who now have closer and better relationship with God, the people who now have eternal life, will not have happened without all of your support.😄
I hope that by all these updates and testimonies, all of you will realize that when you support and enable someone to go and fulfil God's calling in their lives, a very real and a very big domino effect will happen and continue for eternity. :)
Even if you gave someone the equivalent of a plate of chicken rice, that adds to the domino effect. That little thing still enables someone to do something more than before.
Lives will change, and hearts will transform, and more people than ever will be reunited with Christ and have eternal life.
But most of these awesome things that will happen, we will not see. We will not know. But we DO know that once we've planted seeds, plants will always continue to grow and multiply.
Your financial seed WILL grow into a forest of trees that shelter and feed and provide for people that you will never meet, in ages that you will never live to see. But only when we are finally with Jesus is when we can truly see the ripple effect of each decision we make for God.
Thank you all for supporting me, and I encourage all of you to ask God, "What do You want me to do today?"
